Organizational Structure
The organizational structure of a Grama Panchayat is primarily organized into two main divisions: Elected Representatives and Government Officials appointed for administration.
The structure can be detailed as follows:
1. Political Wing (Elected Body)
The administrative decisions of the Grama Panchayat are taken by the governing body elected by the people.
- Ward Members: Representatives elected from each ward. They are the members of the Panchayat Committee.
- Panchayat President: The head of the governing body. Leads the day-to-day administration of the Panchayat.
- Vice President: Performs the duties of the President in their absence.
- Standing Committees: Committees formed by including members to focus specifically on areas such as development, health, education, and welfare.
2. Administrative Wing (Officials)
The decisions taken by the governing body are implemented by government-appointed officials.
- Panchayat Secretary: The Chief Executive Officer of the Panchayat. The Secretary leads legal matters, fund utilization, and official administration.
- Assistant Secretary: Assists the Secretary in administrative matters.
- Junior Superintendent / Head Clerk: Supervizes office files and staff.
- Section Clerks: Handle tax collection, issuance of certificates, and implementation of various schemes.
3. Allied Service Sectors
Officials from various departments transferred to the Panchayat (Transferred Institutions) are also part of the Panchayat structure:

- Engineering: Assistant Engineer (AE), Overseer
- Agriculture: Agricultural Officer
- Health: Health Inspector, ASHA Workers
- Social Welfare: ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) Supervisor
- Education: School Headmasters / Headmistresses
